New custom home design located in Northern, IL. Went thru design iterations in the summer of 2004, to a completed Design Development phase in the Fall of 2004. The scheme was of a somewhat smaller 3200SF home in a craftsman / prairie / rustic contemporary style with somewhat taller vaulted great room areas to showcase interior cathedral woodwork and great room fireplace to open dining / kitchen areas. Variation request and many village planning/board meetings later resulted in a special ordinance variation, but also owner required infrastructure improvements. On a last minute whim I entered the house design and cadd rendering images into an AutoDesk sponsored Design Innovation contest and won a runner-up award including a trip to AutoDesk University 2004 in Las Vegas, NM where I received an award at the architectural evening dinner.

Bids were let and construction finally began in the early Fall of 2005.

Late fall / winter of 2005 - 2006 has brought some design changes to the house in terms of the owners change of heart and wishing to add more square footage to the house and raise the second floor areas to make the bonus above garage future spaces into the Master bedroom / bathroom suite, The original character intent  was saved in the redesign and the southern facing (center) view remains largely intact, while providing a 4000SF home comparable to many of the new builds in the largely changing neighborhood.
